January Book List

Hey there, Hobbitses! I’m planning on posting book lists every month, showing the books I’ve read and a little review for each! If you haven’t read these books, I’d highly recommend!

Shawna can’t remember anything from her and her brother’s car accident, but everyone places the blame on her. As time goes on and she tries to remember what happened, memories do come, but they aren’t her own. On top of that, it seems like people want to kill her and even her closest friends can’t be trusted. What is going on?

This is a great book with an intriguing story and plot twists that make it nearly impossible to put down! I rate it a 4.5/5!

The Lunar Chronicles are based off of familiar fairy tales with futuristic, science fiction embellishments that make them fascinating reads!

The first book in the series, Cinder, is a Cinderella story of a mechanic cyborg, rejected and looked down upon by others. But while an incurable disease ravages the country, and she is volunteered to help find the cure, Cinder finds something unexpected about herself. Meanwhile, the evil Lunar queen, Levana bargains for a marriage with the prince that Cinder knows won’t end well. How can she keep it from happening?

The book ends unsatisfactorily and leaves you hungering for more! I rate it a 5/5!

Scarlet is just a normal, red-haired country girl until her grandmother gets kidnapped and a mysterious handsome stranger named Wolf enters her life. What secret does her grandmother have that would make her risk everything? Scarlet doesn’t know, but she is willing to risk everything for her grandmother, so together she and Wolf set off on a journey to find her. But the world is becoming increasingly dangerous with the introduction of queen Levana’s new creatures which seem to be half men, half wolves! Will they make it out of this alive?

This is also a continuation of Cinder’s story and how she narrowly escapes the clutches of queen Levana herself.

You won’t want to put this book down, believe me! I rate it a 5/5!

Cress is a long-haired hacker, who’s been trapped in a podship in outer space for years! She’s dreamed of the day when a heroic young man will save her from her prison, but when her dreams come true, it’s not the way she’s expected.

Meanwhile, earth is slowly bending to queen Levana’s will. Will she succeed?

This book is dear to my heart because, like Cress, I’m also a big dreamer. I rate it a 5/5!

Fairest is definitely not a fun read. It is the heartbreakingly sad and undeniably evil backstory of the hateful villain, Levana in the Lunar Chronicles. It’s not a must read for the series, but it does explain how things happen and doesn’t leave any room for pity for Levana. In the end it “left me all tore up inside,” my words after I finished it at 2:45 am last Wednesday. I rate it a 3/5.
